Girls Night

Last week Gonzalo took the boys to the Rockies game. I wish i had pictures to capture their time at the park. Christian, Ethan and one of Christians friends were selected to go on the field before the game to play kickball. They had so much fun, Christian kept telling me how soft the grass was. While they were having a boys night Marissa, Miranda and I had a girls night with some of Marissa's friends. Kylee, Madison and Britney came over to have pizza and ice cream sundaes. After that we were going to watch 17 again. Well we had a little detour. My Marissa the jokster that she is started a whip cream fight. I have just a few pictures to remember our night. I think I would have had more but I was trying to keep order after whip cream was starting to fly. All in all the girls had a great time and I look forward to many more whip cream fights as long as they are outside.

First Day of Kindergarten

Ethan had his first day of Kindergarten this past Monday. He did so well, he likes his teacher Mrs. Cristy and his classroom. We are so excited to see our little guy become so independent. We are going to experience many first this year with each of our kids in different season of their lives. I'm just so grateful to be able to see my children grow and to be apart of their life. I cherish these moments and wish i could just stop time. Here are a couple of pictures to remember his day.

Fishing

This past Saturday we took the kids down to Colorado Springs to enjoy fishing at the river. It was so beautiful and we couldn't have asked for better weather. The kids enjoyed fishing, climbing rocks and playing in the water. We didn't have as much luck catching fish as our friends did. I think our total was 3 rainbow trout and one sucker fish. Better luck next time. Here are a few pictures to remember our day at the river.

Summer

Summer seems to always fly by so fast. I'm disappointed in myself for not having my camera around to take more pictures. Here are a few from the past couple of weeks.

Our sweet neighbors and their children put together our first ice cream social. We had root beer floats and ice cream sundaes. As you can see the kids are being silly in this picture. The kids had a great time riding their bikes and playing kick ball, while the moms chatted. The dads, well they were a little camera shy.

Christian is such a good sport. Here is a picture of Christian pretending to be shot by our little friend Carson.

We are so proud of Ethan. He is now swimming all on his own, no floaties (yeah)

Our Marissa is growing up. This past Friday, June 5th they held a dinner at her school for the 8th grade class. She has now officially completed middle school and is ready to start High School this August. I took a few pictures of her and her two best friends.

T-ball has begun. Ethan is beyond excited. To be able to play baseball like his big brother has made him feel like such a big kid. He loves to play, every chance he gets, he is practicing outside with his brother or his dad. He had his first game last week, it was quite cute. Ethan tried to play every position. If the ball was hit to a position other than his, he was going after the ball to make the play. Here are a couple of pictures.

Marissa turned the big 14 today. Yesterday, as part of her birthday gift we had her pick her favorite place to eat. She chose Rodizio Brazilian Steakhouse grill in downtown Denver. They have rotisserie grilled meats that they bring to your table and slice the different types of meat right onto your plate. We definitely felt like we were going to explode after we were done eating. Here are a few pictures of Marissa enjoying her day.

Baseball Tournament

This weekend Christian had his first baseball tournament with his new team the Titans. The boys had a great time and played really well. They have such awesome coaches that really teach the boys how to play and improve their game. This is the first tournament of the season and they won all their games and came home with first place medals. We are so happy for them.

This week was Ethan's 5th Birthday. Lucky little boy was able to celebrate his Birthday 3 times. Once at home on Wednesday for his actual birthday, then at pre-school and then finally this Saturday he had a party with friends. They had such a great time. Our theme was sports. Our family is big on sports, we love to play them all. We had our basement set up with 7 different stations from shooting hoops to scoring goals. Here are a few pictures to remember this past week.

Ethan is such a blessing in our life. He always makes us laugh and smile. He says the funniest things. I love his random hugs and his loving heart. He is going to make a wonderful big brother. Happy Birthday Big Guy, we love you Ethan.

Fire Station Field Trip

This week Ethan's preschool had a science night. The kids got to do different types of experiments, from making slime to making homemade ice cream. Here are a few pictures from the event.

"Its A Girl"

On Monday I had my 21 week ultrasound to make sure everything was looking "A ok" with our little one. Our family had been counting down the days because they also knew we were going to find out if we were going to be welcoming a little boy or a little girl. Our ultrasound tech said our little girl was being very modest because she began covering herself with her hand. Once we heard girl Marissa beamed with Joy, she had been praying for a little sister, Christian was going to be happy either way. Ethan on the other hand was pretty disappointed. I think he cried and hid under one of the chairs for a couple minutes. He complained for the first half hour and kept asking me why Heavenly Father sent him a girl and not a boy. I did my very best to explain to him and I think now he is ok with having a little sister. I think it has to do with being a big brother now.
I love my growing family.

"Holiday Fun"

This year we spent the holidays with family in California. The two weeks seem to fly by so quickly. The kids really enjoyed spending time with their cousins. They love each of them so much. Here are some pictures of the kids throughout our trip.

I put the "S" in slacker

You would think i had fallen off the face of the earth. Well I'm still here just being extremely lazy when it comes to my blog. I love blogs and find them so much fun to read. I've decided to get my act together and start blogging again. These past several months have been pretty busy. We had our basement finished "yeah". Our niece from South America came to live with us this past July and will stay for 1 year to go to school. We had our family come and visit us this summer which was wonderful, I love my sister in-law and her sweet family.

I started working a few hours a week at one of our local hospitals here in Colorado. I work in the ER department as an admissions rep. It's pretty interesting, it definitely humbles you. You go home and want to hug your family and never let them go.

Ethan started soccer in the fall and had a great season. It was priceless to see this little guy with a huge smile on his face after he scored a goal. Christian played summer and fall baseball this year and can say that baseball is definitely his passion. He will start basketball next week. Marissa is enjoying being an 8th grader. She got braces this summer and is now our very own robot. She had injured her arm last year and had to stop swimming. One of our dear friends from church recommended a Dr. that could help her. He really has helped and she was able to start swimming this past October. She is so happy to be back in the water again. I believe she is part fish. So that has been our past few months in a nutshell. I love being a mom and watching my children grow. I count my blessings everyday and thank my heavenly father for giving me such a wonderful husband and family.

A Recap Of The Past Few Weeks

The past few weeks have been a little busy. From Carnivals to Car Washes, end of school to starting swim lessons for Ethan. These past few weeks have been far from dull. Here are a few pictures to recap what we have been up to.

The above picture is of my little Ethan and clean folded clothes. Ethan had requested that I wash his favorite shorts, so I did. Well I forgot to put them in the dryer. While I was taking a nap Ethan and Christian took the clothes from the dryer and put them on the couch. The clothes in the wash they put in the dryer. While I was sleeping my little guy of just 4 years old decided to fold the clean clothes. This picture is what I awoke too. He really put a smile on my face.

Swim lessons with sister Dixon. Sister Dixon is awesome with our little kiddo's. Ethan really did a great job and I think is more determine than ever to swim like the big kids.

Music group came to an end. Sister Saetrum shared her love and talent of music with us. We were part of a music group for the past nine months. The kids got to learn different instruments and learn tons of new songs. Ethan loved music group. Here are a couple of pictures from our last group before summer vacation began. This was definitely one of the best ways to start off our Monday mornings. We love sister Saetrum.

Field day for the fourth graders. Here is a picture of tug of war and of Ethan having lunch with his big brother Christian. Field day is such a fun event for the kids. 3 legged races, football, tug of war, water balloon toss, soccer, basketball, flinging your shoe as far as you can. Its all about having fun before school comes to an end.

Here is a picture of Marissa and I at the Mother and Daughter Relief Society Enrichment Activity. We had such a great time. We learned how to decorate a cake, crochet(sp?), make bath salts, how to shop wisely buy using coupons and how to get organized. There were several different classes to choose from. There were some other really fun ones like photography, cutting hair and even how to arrange flowers. The Relief Society puts together some amazing Enrichment's. Marissa and I were so grateful we could do this one together.

What can I say about this picture of Ethan. I believe it says Mom, I really wanted to dress up. Lets see I used my church tie, my mittens and beanie, my slippers, my brothers soccer shorts and let me not forget my shopping bag. Yep I think that sums it up. Mom how do I look? You look hysterical Ethan!

A Day at the Zoo

Last week we went on a field trip with Ethan's pre-school class to the Denver Zoo. We had a great time. The kids were each given a crayon and a laminated card with several zoo animals on it. This kept them entertained and involved in finding each of the animals that were on the card at the zoo. His pre-school teachers are awesome and very creative, Ethan has had such a great pre-school experience this year. Here are a few pictures from our little adventure.

Brotherly Love

I cannot express enough how much I enjoy watching my boys play together. Although they are six years apart in age, it seems to make no difference. Little Ethan continues to idolize his brother Christian in everything he does and says. It is the cutest thing ever. While Christian is at school Ethan will go into Christian's room and put on his soccer or basketball jersey and wear it all day. Ethan also makes sure that if we are out shopping and he gets a treat, he makes sure he gets one for brother as well. One of my favorite things that Ethan has been doing lately is, he will draw a picture for his brother, once he is done he then tapes the picture to his brothers bedroom wall.

Our living room and loft tend to be our indoor football, soccer,baseball and basketball fields. Tackles and Touchdowns, Home runs and strikeouts, Goals and Penalty kicks are just another day in the Aguirre house rain or shine.

Happy 13th Birthday Marissa

We officially have a teenager in our house (yikes)!. This past weekend was great, we had several family members here from California to come and surprise Marissa for her birthday. Our family arrived on Friday morning the 25th. Our goal was to surprise each one of the kids separately. First it was Ethan at the airport, he was speechless. Second it was Christian at his school he was completely surprised and turned red from ear to ear. Last it was Marissa. We had planned her surprise very carefully. Marissa goes to physical therapy at least once a week for her arm. I booked a fake physical therapy appointment for her a couple of weeks ago for that Friday the 25th. While I went to pick up Marissa the family waited for her at our home. I had to think of a way to get Marissa home before we had to go to her appointment. When I picked up Marissa I told her that I had left my wallet at home and that I needed to go back home to get it, I also told her that I called the physical therapy office to let them know we were going to be a little late. Marissa and I just talked all the way home, right before we got home I told her if she could run into the house with me and grab my wallet while I go to the restroom. She came into the house and had the surprise of her life. She was so taken by the surprise she bursted into tears of joy. She hugged her grandma first and then her cousin Pamela next. The surprise was priceless.

Thank you to grandma and grandpa for making this possible and for putting together a wonderful bar-b-que for Marissa. We love them so much and are so grateful for them for coming. We are also grateful for Cousin Pammy and Danny and Uncle Danny and Uncle Jose Louis for coming as well. Marissa was so happy to see everyone. I think this will definitely be a birthday she will never forget.

It is amazing to me how time passes us by. I can remember as if it were yesterday bringing our daughter into this world. The tears of joy came to my eyes then as they come into my eyes now. I found myself in tears a few times this weekend as I looked at this amazing young girl grow up before my eyes.

I love you Marissa and look forward to many more Birthdays!!!

Spring break

This past weekend Gonzalo had to go to Salt Lake City to work for a couple of days. Since the kids were on spring break, we decided to join him. This way we could spend time with Gonzalo while he works. So Sunday morning we headed off to Utah. It was a painful drive, there is a whole lot of nothing to see while driving through Wyoming. The kids however did great. We packed lots of snacks and movies to keep them busy. We also had a two hour delay due to a terrible accident that had occured early that morning with a diesel truck. While sitting in the car for an hour and a half we pasted the time by playing games and making each other laugh. I'm not sure that was a good idea since most of us had to use the restroom. Little Ethan was the only one who could successfully go to the restroom while we were parked on the road without anyone seeing. The rest of us just had to hold it.

The first day we were there we went to Temple square. This was our second time to Temple square as a family. The kids enjoy going, they love to see the Temple and visit the visitors center. We also went to see the Joseph Smith movie. The kids loved it so much last time that we went to see it again. Marissa had brought her friend Nicole from church who had not yet seen the movie.

That evening Gonzalo the kids and I took a drive through Murray, Utah. We were looking for one of our favorite places to eat (Sweet Tomatoes). While driving we pasted Murray High School. If anyone has been watching American Idol you know that David Archuleta is from Murray, Utah. He has become our favorite, plus our little Marissa has a slight crush on him. I told her we need to come back after dinner and take a picture of her next to the school sign that has David Archuleta's name on it. She declined stating she was to embarrassed.

The next day we joined our friends from Aurora,CO that were also in Utah for a day at BYU. We were able to tour the campus and enjoy a nice lunch with friends.

All in all we had a great time in Utah and like joining Daddy on his business trips.

Pine Wood Derby

Pine Wood Derby for scouts this past Thursday was alot of fun. Gonzalo and Christians hard work paid off. Christian came in 2nd place for his den and 4th place over all.

Easter 2008

On March 15th our Ward had an easter egg hunt this year. The kids had a great time. Marissa painted faces and Christian and Ethan tried to win a treat at the cake walk.

The following weekend we were invited by my dear friend Shawna to her neighborhood Easter egg hunt. I could not believe the amount of eggs they had for the kids to find. My kids found a ton of eggs, and could not stop eating candy.

This past Valentine's Day we received a surprise at our door. Our young women presidency visited each of the young women in our Wards home to do something a little special for each of them. When Marissa came home from school this is what she came home too. I'm so grateful for the young women orginization and the young women presidency at our church. They care so much for our girls. We truely are blessed to be part of such a wonderful church.

The World of Blogging

How exciting it is to enter the world of blogging. Over the years I've enjoyed reading friends and others blogs. It is such a great way to stay connected and watch families grow. Each blog is different and unique, some make me laugh, some touch my heart and sometimes they are educational. I'm hoping with this blog it will help us stay connected with family and friends and also give you updates on the Aguirre family.
